A Letter from
Bill Williams,
Tennessee RC&D Council President
This past year, your
Tennessee Resource Conservation and Development Council
has been caught, in Matthew Arnold’s famous words,
“between two worlds; one dead, the other powerless to be
born.”
On the one hand, we
had four Councils that were declared graduated and, on
the other hand, two who were awaiting funding.
Our outgoing
President Charlene Shelton, the Executive Committee and
dedicated Council members are to be commended for their
overtime efforts in addressing this crisis.
We can now look
forward to the coming year as we work together to
contribute to the growth and prosperity of our
Councils. This will take a forceful and energetic
action on the part of the Tennessee Council’s new
leadership.
Let’s start with
each Council’s qualifying for the Circle of Diamonds
by January 1, 2006.
Donna Hunter,
Communications Director with the National Association of
RC&D Councils, has given us the great news - - the
application fee for the program has been waived for all
Tennessee Councils.
As a member of the
Circle of Diamonds, your Council will have shown
and promises to continue to show your Council’s unique
ability to reach and attain the specific benchmarks set
forth in the application.
Today, we begin the
journey!
Bill G. Williams
