Quilt Trail Public Art Project The Appalachian RC&D Council is seeking Middle and High School Art programs to participate in a regional public art project in Northeast Tennessee. We are seeking to commission the painting of 8’x 8’ or larger reproductions of traditional quilt square patterns on 4’ x 4’ panels. After painting is completed the RC&D Council will have the panels assembled and permanently attached to selected nearby barns. Schools selected to participate in the program will be furnished instructions as well as all needed materials and a scaled quilt block pattern.
The school will receive credit in related media and in printed and online content created. Additionally the school art program will receive a $100.00 donation per 8'x8' pattern painted 4'x4'patterns receives a $50.00 donation. This is an excellent opportunity to teach students about the historic art form of quilting, geometric art forms and the public display and enjoyment of art. Students will also share in the pride of their work being visible in their communities for all to see and enjoy.
This project is open to only Middle and High Schools as well as colleges in the region. For more information and If your school is interested in participating in the Quilt Trail Project,
please contact us.
