So you finally finished that remodeling or redecorating project you have been working on for the past year. When you went to store the half filled paint cans you find that you still have a collection of partially full cans from the past three jobs gathering dust in the corner of the basement. Or maybe you finally found that dream house and it came with a huge collection of paint and joint compound cans. Trouble is, the paint has either gone bad or it is a 1970 avocado green or some other color you intend to paint over. Remember that bargain size jug of weed or bug killer you bought 10 years ago when your spouse got you on that gardening kick? Well now the lid is nearly rusted through and it has separated in to three unmixable layers. The question is, how do you do safely dispose of these items. You know that you shouldn’t pour these chemicals in the sink or down the storm drain and you don’t feel right about trying to hide it in the garbage. If you are among those confused by what to do with old chemicals, batteries, medicines and other items there is a solution that avoids pollution. Bring them to one of the upcoming collections being held in our region in March & September and dispose of them free of charge. No commercial or business generated items accepted.
